The Chester and North Wales Society of Chartered Accountants, The Insurance Institute of Chester & North Wales, The Chester Association of Property Professionals and Cheshire and North Wales Law Society, hold these events to help bring together local professionals who all share common objectives.
It enables the opportunity to pool their resources and organise networking days that aid their professional development and act as a platform to promote regional prosperity.
Held over breakfast at The Storyhouse in Chester with 70 attendees, who all enjoyed Jonathan interviewing Brendon Batson OBE, who shared some thought-provoking insights on his experience during his professional football career.
Brendon was one of England’s pioneering black footballers, featuring for Arsenal and West Bromwich Albion, and going on to hold a pivotal position in the Professional Footballers Association as their Deputy Chief Executive, earning his OBE in the 2015 New Year’s Honours for services to football.
He covered his journey from Grenada to England, as part of the “Windrush” generation, his football success, the horrifying experiences of racism from his playing days, the opportunity his executive position presented to help address racism and what society can do now to combat it.
Jonathan said “Everyone was in awe of the challenges Brendon faced and what he has achieved. He is a real super hero and we all learnt a great deal from him. His motivation and determination is truly inspiring”.
“It was great to see the success of the event and hear all of the positive feedback from our members. I’m looking forward to seeing what the next event holds!”
