Keele University celebrates 'Keele Day' on Saturday 3 July

Keele Day is a worldwide celebration of the university and at DJH Mitten Clarke we're very proud of our links with the university.

Each year we take on a number of graduates every year as trainee accountants and auditors, as well as hosting guest lectures for accounting, finance and economics students.

We sat down with members of the team who are Keele alumni to find out why they chose Keele and how their time spent there has helped them in their careers.

'I chose Keele because of its campus and course structure. The course covered a wide range of areas that gave me the knowledge and transferable skills to take into the workplace. This helps when advising clients. Keele was great because of its facilities. It’s good to walk around the campus and take it all in when you’re on a break. The lecturers always made time for you and helped me with my studies'.

Jack Farmer
Paraplanner/Trainee Advisor
Accounting and Business Management, 2016-2019

‘Choosing to study at Keele was an easy decision for me as it allowed me to combine my practical experience of working whilst studying the theory of business, as my employment at the time was in a commutable distance. Keele also had a business school that ranked highly in career prospects for graduate employment as they have strong relationships with a variety of local employers, this was reassuring as I knew it wasn’t always easy finding a graduate position after University. Overall, I really enjoyed my time spent at Keele and the skills and behaviours I picked up in my 3 years have become valuable in my career since'.

Evie Lyons
Semi-Senior Accountant
Accounting and Business Management, 2016-2019

'I had a strong interest in both Law and Politics, and Keele offered a superb dual honours degree which was absolutely perfect. This blend kept me fully engaged over the 3 years and made it certain a career in Law (not politics) was my future. That said, I now work in the world of accountancy, which demonstrates you must always adopt a growth mindset and continue to learn'.

James Beardmore
Operations Director
Law and Politics, 2000-2003
