My NHS Pension – the new online portal

Tom Slevin Client Services Director explains the new NHS portal to access NHS Pensions called My NHS Pension

Author:

The NHS have recently released access to a new portal for some members, which allows them to view details on their Pension. This will replace the GOV.UK verify account to access this information.

We’ve asked Tom Slevin, Client Services Director to outline everything you need to know about the new online portal.

Take it away Tom

My NHS Pension is in the early stages of development and will eventually be rolled out to all members of the NHS Pension Scheme. If you haven’t received a letter with your unique codes, this means you won’t be able to access My NHS Pension just yet.

The new online portal will allow you to view a copy of your Annual Benefit Statement (ABS). This shows details on your estimated pension and a history of your pensionable pay. It will also allow you to add or amend your nominations, amend your contact details, and view the personal details already on record.

What you need to access My NHS Pension

To access My NHS Pension, you will need your NHS Pensions member number, which is also known as the SD reference or SD number. This can be found by logging onto Compass and accessing your SD86C certificate in the Pensions section.

When you are contacted to register for My NHS Pension, you’ll need to ensure you have a few things to hand. You will be asked to provide known facts which include:

  • First name
  • Date of birth
  • National Insurance Number
  • NHS Pensions member number

It is recommended that you use a personal email address to register for My NHS Pension. This means if you were to ever leave NHS employment, you would still be able to access your account.

Once you’ve then completed registration, you’ll be sent an email for verification, which will include a link that will verify your account. Once you’ve clicked the link to take you to the portal, a verification message will appear, confirming that you have registered successfully!
